This work is part of Ahi Nyx's (Te Āti Awa me Ngāti Raukawa) exhibition Going for a harvest with kete kupenga at Moana Fresh's Kū Kahiko Gallery.
This mahi seeks to:
Reconnect to Māori traditional harvesting practices by remembering what was taken during colonisation.
This weave is a style used to collect kai from Papatūānuku and te Moana on the walk home the soil or sand would fall through the holes. Hang the kete on the wall for open-aired kai storage.
