This inventive series of works, playfully challenges conventional notions of art and invites viewers to explore the boundaries of artistic expression. His wood cutout vases stand as vibrant testaments to the power of creativity and the beauty that can arise from the simplest of inspirations. These enchanting pieces serve as a testament to the boundless possibilities that emerge when imagination takes flight.
Ahsin Ahsin is a multidisciplinary artist based in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton. He is of Cook Islands descent. Ahsin has exhibited largely throughout Aotearoa and has participated in international art initiatives including a series in India and Belgium. Ahsin is compelled to create, his works are influenced by 1980s-90s sci-fi films and street art with pop culture references throughout. His imagination distills into fantastic creatures and sigils, graffiti mark-making and gestures, suspended in hyperspace. He works his neo-pop style across a variety of surfaces, seen on the street as murals and in the contemporary gallery spaces.
