This handmade card features a handcarved block of the beautiful Lau-Ti plant (cordyline fruticosa). The leaves of this plant has many many uses throughout Polynesia. It's known by different names in other languages & cultures but in Sāmoa it's called "ti" (sounds like tea). I've always suffered from headaches & migraines & as a kid my grandmother used to take the 'lau ti' leaves, dip it in water & massage my head with the leaves. The leaves are also placed all over your body to draw out sickness. Apart from its medicinal uses, it's also believed to have supernatural qualities - the ti leaves are used to ward off evil spirits. They're also believed to bring good luck.
