About the artist
Born and raised in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, of Niuean and Pakeha descent Darcell graduated with a Masters in Art and Design from Auckland University of Technology in 2013 and is now based in Tauranga. Her practice explores perceptions of the Pacific body through identification within the social climate of New Zealand and the Pacific. Darcell’s practice is interested in exploring identity in relation to legacy and storytelling, and ideas around how the body operates in social and cultural contexts.
