Pēpi - 50 Māori Words For Baby's World
Give your pēpi the gift of te reo Māori. A collection of 50x removable, repositionable, and reusable te reo Māori self-adhesive labels to describe the things that surround baby from 'baby carrier' to 'breast pump.' Each label is printed with the Māori word in a large bold font and the English translation in a small subtle font below.
Tohupiri were inspired by the arrival of our first pēpi. We made the decision to speak only Māori to our pēpi and our wider whānau wanted to support this decision through using as much te reo Māori as possible with our tamāhine.
We quickly realised that collectively we didn't know the Māori terms for a number of baby-related products and household items and the common vocab-learning technique of placing sticky notes around the house failed us when the notes curled up or lost their stickiness and fell off.
So we decided to order some custom labels, spending our "spare time" when baby was asleep, putting together a vocabulary list, researching removable label manufacturers, ordering samples and producing what was to become the first ever Tohupiri pack. We were so happy with the results that we wanted to make the labels available to other whānau.
