While this taonga is crafted to be durable, it remains a delicate piece that requires
thoughtful care. Although it can be displayed as an art object, these Poi Uku are created
with the intention of being played. Influenced by the various forms of poi used in taonga
pūoro, they invite gentle interaction. To activate the sounds of Hineukurangi, play by
softly shaking, tapping, or scraping the forms against each other.
