Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland Museum presents Te Taunga: Recipes and Stories, a cookbook created in collaboration with community groups that have exhibited in the museum’s Te Taunga Community Hub since its establishment in 2021. Featuring contributions from the Cook Islands, Sudan, Ma’ohi Nui, India/Fiji, Ukraine, Solomon Islands, and Brazil, this book invites readers on a journey through whānau, culture, and history through the lens of food and cooking.
Within these pages are recipes and stories that have travelled across oceans and generations to land here in Aotearoa. Together, they form threads woven into the wider tapestry of this country’s culinary landscape, reflecting who we are and where we have come from.
Filled with family photographs and illustrations by Erin Forsyth, this cookbook is a veritable feast for the senses.
"In my eyes this is a perfect cookbook – filled with stories and delicious-sounding dishes, which make me smile and will send me straight to the kitchen to try something new." Alexa Johnston
